About Us

Serving the Sunshine Coast’s document disposal needs since 1997.

A New Chapter for Coastline Recycling

Today, you’ll find the friendly faces of husband-and-wife team Derek and Soma Myers as the new owners/operators of Coastline Recycling. Derek is an “honorary local”, having moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2017, while Soma has lived on the Sunshine Coast for most of her life.

While looking for an opportunity to invest in their Sunshine Coast community, the Myers learned that Coastline Recycling founders Monica Petreny and Steve Porter were wanting to sell. It was a perfect fit for Soma and Derek, who wanted an established venture that was locally-based and environmentally conscious.

Monica and Steve took us under their wings and set us up for success in a way we never expected, allowing us to take over with the confidence that we can continue and grow with what they started,” says Soma.

Derek adds, “We had big shoes to fill taking over from them, but it is our honour and joy to do our best!”

The Myers are proud to continue Coastline Recycling’s reputation of security and dependability. You ask, and we do our best to oblige! New clients are always warmly welcome.

The History of Coastline Recycling

Monica Petreny and Steve Porter began Coastline Recycling in 1997 as a residential curbside paper collection service. Next came business clients, which grew into a need for confidential document shredding in 2005. We owe our success to loyal customers who we gratefully continue serving to this day!
